Meeting with the Chief of the Herat Provincial Council, Dr. Homayoon AZIZI

Dr. AZIZI gave some information about the recent afghan elections for the Herat Province:

About one million of people have been registered for the elections

The security condition in Herat province is quite good but in some Districts (Ghuzara, Kush-e-Kone, Pashutn Zargun, Shindand) there are some illegal armed groups that are creating problems

At the end he underlined the perfect cooperation between the Provincial Council and the Italian PRT but he thinks that the PRT year’s budget is not sufficient for the Herat province necessities

- meeting with the Provincial Deputy Chief of the Afghan National Police, Col. Delawar SHAH, inside the Provincial ANP Head Quarter in Herat.

During the visit the delegation had a meeting with Dr. Marco URAGO, the chief project of the Cooperazione Italiana, with Dr. RASHEED, the Chief of the Health Department of Herat and Mrs. Deghan NEJAT, member of the Afghan Parliament

meeting with Brig. Gen. Abdul Majeed SADIQUI, General Commander of Western Zone Jails, and visit of the new Female Correctional Centre (built by PRT in 2009). Actually inside it there are 107 female prisoners with 95 children.
